July 23, 2010

Today, Cicely and I created a new experiment which we called "RandomVandal" because we went around the CIS building taking pictures of random things like the fire alarm, the elevator buttons, and the "sexual harassment" poster on the first floor. So we asked each observer to look at the screen and read the question, and when they were done reading the question, we asked them to stare at the 'X' on the bottom of the screen to move on to the image that corresponds to the question. For example, one of the questions was "Which Beatles does Sean look like the most?" And then we showed a picture of Sean with his Beatles shirt on and the observer had to tell us which one he looked like. It was so funny. But anyways, the purpose of our experiment was to become more informed with the programs that we are going to use for our final project such as iView X, Experiment Center, and Begaze. We use iView X to set up the eyes in the right position so the SMI (Sensomotoric instrument) can track the eyes. We use Experiment Center to create our experiment and we use Begaze to analyze the data. In this case, we analyzed where each person looked to answer the questions. The eye movements varied, not surprisingly because we are all different.

P.S - Thanks to everyone who participated in our random experiment!
And it is really fun experimenting people with the SMI eye tracker !
